Taunts of criminal past resulted in murder of labourer

A 32-year-old labourer was stabbed to death this morning after taunting his drinking buddy over his criminal past.

The incident happened around 00:10 hrs today at Foulmouth Landing, Essequibo River.

The deceased has been identified as Cedric Williams, a labourer of Foulmouth Landing. The suspect is a 33-year-old ex convict. He is now being sought by the police.

According to information received, Williams, the suspect and the suspect’s sister were imbibing at the landing when an argument erupted between Williams and the suspect over a criminal act the suspect committed in 2009.

The Guyana Standard was told that the suspect became annoyed, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

Williams was taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
