Ballots contained in 85 boxes were counted today as Day 18 of the recount of votes cast in the March General and Regional Elections came to an end this evening at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre (ACCC), Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.

According to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM)’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward: 16 boxes were completed for Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara); 23 for Region Four (Demerara/Mahaica); 15 for Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice); 20 for Region Six (East Berbice/Corentyne); and 11 for Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).

Regarding tabulation, 999 Statements of Recount (SORs) for General, and 1,015 for Regional Elections would have been completed thus far.

Today’s exercise brings all boxes processed to 1,046, or 44% of the 2,339 boxes that contained ballots cast in these elections. GECOM now has 7 days to complete the remainder of the boxes.
