Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal has admitted that no feasibility study was conducted before the construction of the new road linkage from Diamond to Eccles, East Coast Demerara.

His revelation came in a response to questions raised by Opposition Parliamentarian and former Junior Communities and Public Infrastructure Minister, Annette Ferguson.

The former Minister also questioned the procurement method used for procuring the services of a consultant or Consulting Firm, but Croal informed that no procurement method was required since all the designs were done by the Projects Department of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).

The bypass is expected to be opened soon. It was constructed to the tune of $500M. The link was built against the backdrop of clamor for alternative linkages to avoid traffic congestion during peak hours along the East Bank Demerara Highway leading into the capital city.
