Police say that a 23-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and three juveniles – two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old – were arrested yesterday for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. They were taken into custody after police found a .32 revolver along with four matching round, six cellular phones, and one tablet in their Guyhoc Park, Georgetown home.

According to reports, the items were found during a search of the premises around 11:00hrs. Police found a black bag on a chair that contained the firearm. Its serial number was filed off. The suspects failed to provide a ‘valid’ firearm license, the force said in a statement.

They were told of the offence committed, cautioned, and arrested.

As the search continued, six cellular phones and one tablet were also found.

They all denied ownership and were escorted to the East La Penitence Police Station.

The Guyana Police Force has since launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the unlawful possession of the articles found.
