Khemraj Persaud called “Pandit”, a 67-year-old farmer of Lot 2 Unity Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was charged today with the murder of Chormanie Tulsie, also known as Anita, between November 21 and 22 2023, at Unity.

The accused appeared this morning at the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court before His Worship Magistrate Alan Wilson where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to June 20, 2024.

Tulsie’s body was found around 08:00 hrs in the lower flat of her house, lying on the ground with a piece of cloth stuffed inside her mouth and a knife stuck at the centre of her throat.
