The A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) and the Working People’s Alliance (WPA) will contest as a singular force as Guyana prepares to head to the poll on September 1, 2025.According to the APNU, it is confident that it will win a free, fair and transparent election.

Notwithstanding that, the parties said that they are aware that GECOM is a compromised institution that is not intent on delivering free and fair elections and we are preparing to confront the illegalities.”GECOM must know we share the views of our Commissioners and that GECOM’s failure to deliver free and fair elections has serious negative consequences.

We recommend that good sense prevail.”The parties notes that the union must not be interpreted as an indication of their “comfort or concurrence with GECOM’s mis-management of the election process”.”Our decision to participate also did not ignore the fact that, over the years, GECOM has refused to meet our demands for a clean voters list and the use of fingerprint biometrics at the place of poll.
As such, these elections remain highly vulnerable to manipulation and fraud.”
