Executive Member of the governing People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) and Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, has said that the “mass exodus” to his party ahead of the 2025 poll is a significant indication that persons are wising up. They no longer see the opposition as a viable option.

Referencing the recent crossovers and endorsements of President Dr. Irfaan Ali for a second term, the AG said that momentum is building.

“There is a mass exodus from both the Alliance For Change and the People’s National Congress in particular — a mass exodus. And that has been happening for the past few years. One by one, it started as a trickle. And now it is snowballing. And it will accelerate even more as we get closer to the elections,” Nandlall predicted.

He added that the increase in crossover is fuelled by uncertainty about the future of the opposition and the fact that Guyanese have seen enough over the last decade to make the right choice.

“The APNU [and] AFC are in a mass of confusion…Intelligent people who are in the PNC can’t be comfortable with this. And those who are brave enough are leaving and embracing the PPP. And that is what you’re seeing.

“They see that we have a vision for Guyana and that we are unfolding an agenda that is transforming Guyana. And they are part of that transformation, and they would like to be closer to that transformation. So, they are coming on board with us. And we welcome that, and we will continue to welcome more and more,” Nandlall said.

He added, “All these things are plain and obvious, and we live in a very educated world. These things people are recognising quicker than 10 years ago. And therefore, people are making decisions based on the realities around them.”
