President Dr Irfaan Ali has dissolved the 12th Parliament and the Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs) ahead of the September 1, 2025, General and Regional Elections.
The Head of State made the proclamation today in accordance with Article 72 of the Constitution of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
“The proclamations also designate the 1st September 2025, as the date on which General and Regional Elections shall be held in the cooperative Republic of Guyana.
He added, “Free and fair elections are the lifeblood of a democratic state. The upcoming elections represent our country’s commitment to renewing the democratic covenant between its citizens and government elections, providing the opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic right.”
