At approximately 23:45 hrs on Monday, acting on information received, police ranks on mobile patrol in Linden proceeded to the residence of robbery suspect Shamar Prince, a 26-year-old unemployed man of Wall Street, Amelia’s Ward, Linden.

Prince was a tenant occupying the lower flat of a two-storey concrete house located in a partially fenced yard and facing south. He resided there with his girlfriend, Whitney Brazilio, a 22-year-old cook.

Upon arrival, the ranks called out at the apartment. Brazilio opened the western door and engaged the officers. The police said that Prince, who was inside the apartment, opened the back door on the northwestern side and discharged a firearm in the direction of one of the officers, forcing him to take cover.

Prince then exited the apartment and continued firing at the ranks. According to the Police Force, the officers returned fire while taking cover. During the exchange, Prince was struck and fell to the ground at the side of the yard.

When the ranks approached, Prince was found lying on his back, dressed in a multicoloured shirt and black denim pants. Next to him was a .38 revolver loaded with three live rounds and three spent shells, along with a box containing twenty-five .38 rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, a black bag strapped across his shoulder contained one National ID card bearing the name Shamar Prince, a Blu cellphone, $1,040 in Guyana currency, a knife, and five grams of a whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine.

Prince was placed in a police vehicle and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Five circular wounds were observed on his body: one on the left side of the head, three on the upper left shoulder, and one on the right side of the chest.

The .38 revolver, ammunition, spent shells, and other recovered items were sealed and lodged to be sent to the lab for forensic examination.

Prince’s body remains at the Linden Hospital Complex Mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.

At the time of the operation, police were investigating a report of Robbery Under Arms committed earlier that Monday, July 14, 2025, on Long Xing, a 38-year-old Chinese businessman of Mackenzie, Linden, as well as other armed robbery cases involving firearms targeting Chinese business establishments.
