While the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is giving the 2025 elections 100 percent of its energies, its leader and Presidential Candidate, Aubrey Norton said he is fully aware that this may not be enough to beat the incumbent. During an appearance on Context, an online show produced and hosted by Enrico Woolford, Norton appeared alongside his Prime Ministerial Candidate where they both fielded questions on a range of issues.

The closing question for Norton was: “Wuh yuh gun do if you lose the election?” Norton made it clear that his party is not focused on losing.

“What we are doing is creating clear ideas to lead Guyana in the direction of building a better society, giving people a better quality of life,” said Norton.

While the party is focused on informing the electorate about its policies, Norton said this in itself is not enough to win the poll given one particular disadvantage. He said, “The entire electoral process is being compromised.”

Norton said if is one is to pay keen attention to the approach of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), it would be observed that it is an ally of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) regime. In spite of this, Norton said his party intends to be vigilant against any attempts at election rigging. “If we lose an honest election, we will honour it,” said Norton. He cautioned however, “If it is as a result of GECOM manipulation and PPP rigging, it’s a totally different game.”
