Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), Kesh Nandlall has told the High Court that he suffered damage to his character following an article published by Guyana Standard that did not reference his name or job title. The article carried the headline, “Govt. mum on Method4 affairs because it was bitten by its own.”
Nandlall’s concerns and contentions are noted in a writ that states he is seeking damages in excess of $20M from Abena Rockcliffe, Editor-in-Chief of Guyana Standard.
Rockcliffe was served yesterday, Monday, but according to the writ, action, it was initiated on August 21. The filing of legal action follows Nandlall’s ultimatum to retract and apologize or face the court.
Rockcliffe maintained that she followed the tenants of journalism in the execution of her duty.
