Sophia, a community that traditionally casts a significant portion of its votes in favour of the PNCR which leads A Partnership for National Unity (APNU), appears to be experiencing a shift in political allegiance. The Statements of Poll from the 2025 General Election reveal that APNU garnered a total of 1,882 votes in Sophia. Notably, Azruddin Mohamed’s We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) secured an impressive 1,813 votes, almost matching APNU’s tally and raising questions about the party’s declining dominance in the community.
The SOPs further indicate support for the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) which secured 957.
The Alliance for Change (AFC), a once strong opposition force, has now been relegated to the political shadows. It managed to attract 56 votes in Sophia, a dismal performance that has been replicated in all other districts.
