-CPA reports parents as main suspects

In relation to the two reports of missing persons published by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday evening, it has been revealed that the children were in the custody of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CPA). In both cases, it is alleged that the children were taken by their parents.

On 12 September 2025, 11-year-old Preiti Mohamed, a student of Carmel Secondary School, was reported missing. Police said the mixed-race child, of light complexion, left the CPA office at around 15:34 hrs to attend school but did not return. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, chequered skirt, black boots, and white socks. According to a police statement, she was picked up from Carmel Secondary by an unknown female, alleged to be her mother. Mohamed’s whereabouts remain unknown. Notably, the matter was reported to the police at 16:00 hrs the same day.

In another case, police reported that two siblings, five-year-old Havana Dodson and two-year-old Jevari Dodson, were taken from the Tucville, Georgetown home of their grandmother, Shereen Sampson, on 3 July 2025 at around 20:00 hrs. The children, who were also under the custody of the CPA, were reportedly taken by their father, Javon Sampson, and have not been seen since. The incident was reported to the police on 9 July 2025.

Police are urging anyone with information on the missing children to contact the nearest police station, call 911, or reach the CPA on telephone number 694-5899.
