The Alliance For Change (AFC) has confirmed that it has “received an updated letter purporting to be a letter of resignation, with immediate effect, from its Leader, Mr. Nigel Hughes.”

The party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) says it will meet in an emergency session to discuss the ramifications of the resignation. The NEC also said it will encourage Hughes to reconsider his decision.

“Should he remain adamant in his decision, then the Party’s constitutional provisions will be used to guide the way forward,” the AFC stated.

The party further thanked its members and supporters for their “well-wishes and courage in the face of fortitude and challenges.”

The development comes in the wake of the AFC’s defeat at the September 1, 2025, General and Regional Elections, where the party performed poorly at the polls.
