Police are investigating an accident that occurred yesterday (Sunday, September 21, 2025) at Hill Foot, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, which resulted in the death of a male (identity unknown at this time), who was the driver of a motorcar, PLL 7365.
The accident occurred at about 02:00hrs, and also involved Motor Lorry GAE 5944, driven by 61-year-old Sewarran Latchman of Sand Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara.
According to the 61-year-old driver of the lorry, he was proceeding west along Hill Foot, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, when he observed two white lights heading East in his driving lane, at a fast rate.
He claimed that he applied brake and swerved left to avoid a collision but the motorcar collided with the right side front portion of the lorry.
As a result, the driver of the motorcar PLL 7364 was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other occupants of the car who were injured, were taken to the Diamond Regional Hospital where they received treatment.
Investigations are ongoing.
