Police are investigating a report of Robbery Under Arms committed at the China #11 Supermarket, owned and operated by Zhuangshui Xu, a 38-year-old male Chinese businessman of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
The business was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and $50,000 worth of Digicel and GT&T phone cards. The armed robbery occurred on 2025/10/10 at about 20:44 hours by three males armed with a gun and a cutlass.
According to the victim, he was in the supermarket behind the cashier counter, cashing customers, when he observed the suspects entering the supermarket.
One of the suspects was dressed in a camouflage hoodie and dark colour pants with a black cloth around his face and armed with a handgun; one with a long sleeve grey and blue jersey and blue pants with blue cloth around his face and armed with a knife; and the third suspect was dressed in a long sleeve blue jersey and dark colour pants with a grey cloth around his face armed with a cutlass.
The victim said the suspects approached him and demanded that he hand over the cash to them. One of the suspects entered the cashier area and took out the day’s sales from the cash register and placed it in a black plastic bag along with the Digicel and GT&T phone cards. The suspects then made good their escape on foot in an unknown direction.
Several persons were questioned, as investigations continue.
