Police are investigating a wounding incident committed on Indira Thomas, a 53-year-old Housewife of Coverden, East Bank Demerara, her husband William Thomas, a 68-year-old Businessman, and their 18-month-old granddaughter.

The wounding incident occurred at approximately 15:30 hrs yesterday (Friday, 10th October 2025) at Coverden, East Bank Demerara, while they were in traffic along the East Bank road corridor. Police have since arrested the suspect, Wilfred Aaron, a 68-year-old Construction Worker from Coverden.

Investigation revealed that the suspect and the victims (Indira and Williams) are known to each other; they are neighbours but are not on speaking terms due to prolonged issues.

According to Indira Thomas, she and her husband went to a daycare and playgroup located at Friendship, East Bank Demerara, to pick up their granddaughter, and whilst returning home, they were stuck in the traffic at Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, when the suspect started to abuse Williams using a series of expletives. The suspect allegedly also threatened to kill him (the 68-year-old businessman), who stepped out of his vehicle and approached the suspect, trying to assess the situation. The suspect then armed himself with a knife and attacked the businessman, causing him to receive injuries to his abdomen and ear.

The 18-month-old child received injuries on her left wrist. Indira Thomas, who tried to part the fight, received injuries on her elbow, hand palm, and cuts on three (3) fingers on her right hand (Index, Middle, and Ring Finger).

The businessman managed to enter his motor car and head to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where they were all seen and examined by a Doctor on duty, treated, and sent away.

Investigations in progress.
