Police in Regional Division 10 are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Sunday, November 16, 2025, around 18:45 hrs on the Speightland Access Road, Mackenzie, Linden. The incident claimed the life of 53-year-old Cecil Boston, a resident of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
According to initial investigations, the accident occurred as a motor car, driven by a 28-year-old labourer, also from Central Amelia’s Ward, was travelling south along the eastern drive lane of the roadway. At the same time, Boston and his wife were walking one abreast along the eastern side of the road, heading in the same direction.
As the vehicle approached, the left front portion of the car collided with Boston, causing him to be thrown onto the windscreen before falling onto the road. He sustained multiple injuries.
Public-spirited citizens rushed to assist and transported Boston to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was examined and admitted. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation for further treatment. However, at approximately 01:05 hrs on Monday, November 17, 2025, Boston was pronounced dead.
Police reported that a breathalyzer test was administered to the driver, returning a reading of 0.62% BAC—”well above the legal limit”. He was arrested, and the vehicle was lodged at the Mackenzie Police Station pending further examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
