The Guyana Police Force is investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Thursday December 4, 2025, at about 23:20hrs on the Alness Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice involving motor car PWW 6986 driven by a 31-year-old male of John’s Settlement, Corentyne and 30-year-old Davendra Sydney of Bushlot Village, Corentyne, Berbice (deceased).
Initial investigations revealed that the motor car was proceeding east along the northern drive lane allegedly at a fast rate of speed when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to turn turtle.
As a result, both the driver and Sydney received injuries about their bodies and were picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where Sydney was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
His body was later escorted to Ramoo’s Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. The driver was admitted at the said hospital in a stable condition under police guard.
A breathalyzer test was administered to the driver returning readings of 77 and 74 micrograms.
