The APNU Coalition says that President Irfaan Ali’s recently announced five-year plan should have been laid in the National Assembly to allow for scrutiny and possible enhancements.

The party noted that a ” document of this national importance should have been formally laid before the National Assembly, allowing elected representatives and citizens to
interrogate timelines, costs, risks, and trade-offs – not delivered before a politically curated audience”.

The party is forewarning citizens that the plan illustrates the core weakness of the governmentโ€™s vision: a heavy reliance on rhetoric, with insufficient acknowledgment of execution failures over the last five years.

“The vision assumes that scale automatically produces quality. What is apparent is the hurried nature of the policy framework as many policies have been announced and consultations will follow,” the party noted.
