Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident which occurred on Monday December 22, 2025 about 00:30hrs on Cemetery Road, Georgetown.

The accident involved motor car PAB 6212, a dark coloured Toyota Rumion, driven by a male driver whose name, age and address are unknown at this time and electric cycle EM 6699 ridden by Trevon Bacchus (deceased), a 59-year-old of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown.

Preliminary investigations disclosed that motor car PAB 6212 was proceeding north along the western drive lane of Cemetery Road, Georgetown at an alleged fast rate when the electric cyclist, who was proceeding north along the extreme western edge of the said road, was struck from the rear after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The driver continued further north then headed west onto Princess Street without stopping. The driver is currently at large and efforts are being made to locate and apprehend him.

As a result of the collision, the cyclist sustained injuries to his head and about his body and was picked up in a semi-conscious state and conveyed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention at about 04:30hrs.

The body was later escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

CCTV footage is being reviewed as investigations continue.
