See press release from the A Partnership for National Unity:
APNU has taken note of recent disclosures and evidence now circulating in the public domain concerning the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Hon. Susan Rodrigues. The accusations raise serious and troubling questions that can no longer be ignored.
The APNU Coalition has consistently and unapologetically exposed corruption within the PPPC Government, including the actions of its friends, families, and favourites. Since 2020, APNU has campaigned relentlessly on an anti-corruption platform, making integrity in public life a central pillar of our political engagement. This principled stance is a defining feature that clearly distinguishes APNU from the PPPC. The effectiveness and persistence of APNU’s anti-corruption advocacy have not gone unnoticed. We welcome those who are new to exposing corruption. Some have been complicit with and benefited tremendously from corruption and it is good that they have taken up the cause against corruption.
In January 2025, the Speaker of the National Assembly imposed restrictions on the use of the term “corruption” and related expressions within parliamentary proceedings. Words and phrases such as “corruption,” “dishonest dealings,” “loot,” and “runnings” were barred from use. These developments speak volumes about the impact of APNU’s campaign and the discomfort it has caused within the corridors of power.
In the National Assembly, Minister Rodrigues publicly stated that she came from humble beginnings and that her family was part of the working class. Against that backdrop, the revelation that, after just five years as a government minister, she has reportedly accumulated significant wealth and valuable assets here at home and abroad is deeply concerning and demands a full, independent investigation.
What is currently in the public space regarding the speed and scale of this wealth accumulation is nothing short of frightening. The volume, detail, and apparent documentary nature of the evidence being discussed have understandably shaken public confidence. In the absence of a transparent and credible investigation, the Guyanese people are left with no choice but to draw conclusions based on the information presented, which appears to lend weight to the claims being made.
This matter is not about political rivalry or personal attacks. It is about integrity in public office, accountability, and the obligation of those entrusted with power to demonstrate that their wealth was lawfully acquired. Public officials are required to meet a higher standard, particularly when their personal narratives and financial realities appear to be fundamentally at odds.
Given the seriousness of the allegations and the damning nature of the evidence now in circulation, we call on Susan Rodrigues to immediately resign from her ministerial post to allow for an unfettered, impartial, and credible investigation.
Should the Minister fail to do so, we demand that President Irfaan Ali act decisively and remove her from office, in keeping with his constitutional responsibility to protect the integrity of the executive and restore public trust in governance.
The people of Guyana deserve answers, transparency, and leadership that is beyond reproach. Silence, delay, or dismissal of these concerns only deepens suspicion and erodes confidence in our democratic institutions.

APNU (A Partnership for National Unity) should be renamed APND (A Partnership for National Disunity). Norton was booted into the sidelines because just a few people liked him and APNU, and he is still condemning everyone and everything relating to the PPP.
He only wants power. And should he be in power, Guyana will become like all countries in mudda africa: begging for help.
I have assets worth quite a bit, but I worked hard for this, even drinking water when I could not afford lunch. Norton should try it.
