Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of murder suspect Michael Tamassar, also known as “Mike,” an 88-year-old.
Tamassar is believed to have died on Thursday, January 8, 2026, sometime between 07:00 and 09:38 hrs, at the Bladen Hall School Compound Living Quarters, where he resided with his son.
Investigations revealed that the pensioner was last seen alive at approximately 07:00hrs. He was later discovered unresponsive around 09:38 hrs, lying in the living room.
Detectives conducted an initial examination of the body, during which no marks of violence were observed on the exposed areas. The body was subsequently escorted to the Buxton Health Centre, where he was officially pronounced dead.
Tamassar’s body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Investigations are ongoing.
The now-dead pensioner was the prime suspect in the brutal killing of his wife, 89-year-old Lackandai Tamassar, whose body was discovered at their Ogle Airstrip Road residence late last month.
The woman was found dead with what appeared to be stab wounds on December 30, 2025.
At the time her body was discovered, her 88-year-old husband was present at the residence.
