Opposition Chief Whip, Tabitha Sarabo-Halley has written to Speaker of the National Assembly Manzoor Nadir, reporting what she described as a serious incident of misconduct involving Government Minister Kwame McKoy during parliamentary proceedings earlier this week.
In correspondence dated February 6, 2026, Sarabo-Halley alleged that the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 3, within the precincts of the National Assembly and raised concerns about parliamentary decorum, the safety of members, and the dignity of the House.
According to the Opposition Chief Whip, Minister McKoy directed what she described as a sexually inappropriate and threatening remark toward WIN Member of Parliament Toshana Famey-Corlette.
Sarabo-Halley further alleged that McKoy also threatened WIN Member of Parliament Deon LaCruz during the same incident. She claimed the minister pointed in LaCruz’s face and told him, “you don’t know me, I will deal with you.”
In her letter, Sarabo-Halley said the alleged actions undermine the dignity of members, the safety of the parliamentary environment, and the authority and integrity of the National Assembly.
She has requested that the matter be formally noted on the parliamentary record and investigated in keeping with the Standing Orders and any applicable codes of conduct. She also called for the issue to be addressed in a manner that reaffirms the Assembly’s commitment to respect, safety, and proper conduct among members.
Sarabo-Halley stressed that the National Assembly must remain a space where members, particularly women, can perform their duties free from harassment, threats, or intimidation.
