Moments ago, Minister of Aviation and Public Utilities, Deodat Indar placed on record that the government is aiming to supply 10% treated water in just about two years.

The minister was questioned by Forward Guyana’s Member of Parliament, Amanza Walton-Desir, about goals relating to the supply of treated water across Guyana. She was specific about the quality of water being to the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO)

Indar replied, “We aspire for 100 percent treated water.”  He said that $21B set aside as capital expenditure for the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) will allow the agency to secure water treatment plants to adequately address the problem of untreated water that plagues part of the country.  Pressed about the timeline to achieve this, the minister said, “in another two years.”
