Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha today met with a visiting delegation from Brazil led by Governor Antonio Oliverio García de Almeida of the State of Roraima, to discuss strengthened collaboration in support of Guyana’s cattle industry and agro-processing sector.
Discussions focused on opportunities for technical cooperation, genetic improvement, value-added processing, and expanding market access as both countries deepen agricultural ties.
The delegation, which is in Guyana for the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, also met earlier today with President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali and other senior Government officials.
Since 2020, the Government of Guyana has made significant investments to modernize and expand the livestock and agro-processing sectors, including improved breeding programmes, infrastructure upgrades, support for small and medium-scale processors, and targeted interventions to boost production and reduce food imports.
Minister Mustapha noted that partnerships with leading agricultural regions in Brazil can further accelerate these gains, enhance productivity, and strengthen food security while creating new economic opportunities for farmers and agro-processors across Guyana.
