Police in Regional Division 6 are investigating a robbery under arms that occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at about 19:00hrs at a supermarket in Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, Berbice.

The victim is a 58-year-old businessman of the said address.

Preliminary investigations indicate that as the businessman was preparing to close his establishment, three masked men entered the supermarket. One was armed with what appeared to be a rifle, while the other two were armed with suspected handguns. The suspects reportedly ordered the businessman and his employees to lie on the floor.

They then removed approximately $1.5 million in Guyana currency from the cash register before fleeing south along an access street leading to the backdam.

Police responded promptly and carried out searches in the area, but the suspects have not yet been apprehended.

Investigations are ongoing.
