Some 22,308 streetlights installed across the country so far under the National Streetlight Programme, making communities brighter and safer every night.
“As of last Monday, more than 22,000 lights have been installed in the various areas where works are ongoing across the country. A significant number of those were installed in Berbice.” -Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill said during a recent stakeholder engagement.
As the National Street Lighting programme continues to unfold, all installations are being carried out under the supervision of certified electricians and licensed contractors to ensure safety and quality standards.
This programme is a critical component of the government’s efforts to bolster public safety, improving visibility for all road users – directly the aimed to reduce the frequency of road accidents.
