Chief Magistrate Judy Latchman has refused the prosecution’s application to revoke Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed’s bail in his extradition proceedings.
The prosecution sought to have the bail revoked following Mohamed’s remand to prison on a cybercrime charge.
In rejecting the application, Latchman ruled that Mohamed had not been convicted of the alleged misconduct and that the allegation alone was insufficient grounds to revoke his bail.
Mohamed’s bail in the extradition matter therefore remains in place. Mohamed was represented by Senior Counsel Roysdale Forde, attorneys-at-law Siand Dhurjon and Damien DaSilva
The extradition proceedings are scheduled to continue later today.
