GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. announced today that it recently opened its Bartica office at Lot 31, Second Avenue. This office it said, represents a pivotal step in supporting regional development, particularly as it gears up for the Oko Gold Mines Project, which is projected to commence gold production in 2027.

GMINโ€™s Country Manager, Mr. Bjorn Jeune, described the new office as a testament to the companyโ€™s unwavering commitment to the growth of Region 7 and Guyana. Highlighting the projectโ€™s vast potential, he emphasized its proven reserves of 4.3 million ounces of gold and a dedication to sustainable mining practices.

โ€œThis project is not just about gold productionโ€”it is about creating lasting value for the communities, the region, and the nation. Together, we are building a legacy of sustainable development and shared prosperity,โ€ Jeune stated.

To ensure inclusivity and transparency, the company has established a Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (MSWG). This group, which includes representatives from the government, civil society, and local communities, will play a key role in the projectโ€™s implementation and oversight.

As part of its commitment to community development, GMIN will launch a comprehensive training program in early 2025. The initiative will train 200 Barticians in hospitality, welding, electrical work, and heavy-duty equipment operation, aligning with the companyโ€™s goal of creating 1,500 jobs for Guyanese during the projectโ€™s lifecycle.

Barticaโ€™s Mayor, Mr. Anthony Murray, welcomed the establishment of the office, calling it a transformative opportunity for the town and the wider region. He underscored the importance of collaboration and integrity in achieving shared prosperity.

Regional Chairman, Mr. Kenneth Williams, praised GMINโ€™s approach, emphasizing the companyโ€™s genuine commitment to placing Guyanese at the heart of its operations.
