The Bartica United Youth Development Group (BUYDG) has issued a public call for a full post-mortem, forensic reconstruction, and criminal investigation into the suspicious and deeply troubling death of Ms. Althea “Stacy” Walton, a 22-year-old mother from Alexander Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Stacy tragically lost her life in the early morning hours of June 21, 2025, when her body was reportedly found in a vehicle (PAG 2279) that had gone into a trench at Number 7 Village, East Coast Berbice.
Police have since classified the incident as an accidental drowning.
However, according to the group, the family and community have raised serious questions about this version of events, alleging that evidence has been tampered with, investigative procedures were ignored, and a cover-up is underway.
The key concerns raised by the group include suspicious circumstances at the scene, alleged tampering with evidence, missing phone and digital evidence, a “rushed, incomplete post-mortem”, questionable behaviour by the person of interest, a documented history of domestic abuse, and a lack of transparency and police accountability.
According to reports, Walton had been returning from the Corentyne last Friday after delivering a package when her vehicle veered off the road at Number Seven Village, East Coast Berbice, Region Six. She was later pulled from the wreckage shortly after the incident.
