Presidential Candidate for the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali expressed absolute confidence that the electorate is ready to deliver the biggest victory ever for the incumbent.

Speaking at his party’s 2025 election campaign launch in Kitty on Sunday afternoon, Ali said his government, in the last five years, has made tremendous strides in leveraging the nation’s oil wealth to ensure the social and infrastructural upliftment of the country.

To a roaring crowd, Ali outlined the government’s track record of economic progress which he said opponents such as Azruddin Mohamed’s We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) Party could never begin to comprehend or compete with at any level. The only thing Mohamed has mastered, Ali said, is stealing taxes. As for the APNU and the AFC, he said they are only experts at stealing elections.

The incumbent president urged voters not to be sidetracked by the hollow promises of the opposition. He said, “Today is about choosing trusted leadership, one you can depend on, it is about fulfilled promises and integrity in what we say to you. It is about building a better Guyana together…”.

Ali recalled that when he got on the same stage in 2020, people said, “Look the fat man on stage.” Today, Ali said he is “lighter, smarter, faster and better”, ready to continue the hard work necessary to ensure Guyana’s development.

The 2025 to 2030 period he said will be one of new benchmarks for success. He said for example that there will be additional incentives for home ownership as well as the reduction of the tax burden to ensure greater access to disposable income.

He said, “We are going to use technology to support our women too because we have to uplift our women and save them from domestic violence and other forms of insecurity.

“The future that we are building cannot put our women and children in harm’s way. We must make every single investment to keep our women and children safe and you are guaranteed under this government we are going to make those investments.”

Ali said these things are not luxuries, they are promises which will be delivered when the PPP/C wins a second term in office.
