Police are investigating the alleged murder of Paul Devonish, a 63-year-old security guard employed by Sheriff Security, which occurred on Monday, August 18, 2025, at about 18:30 hrs. Police have since arrested the suspect, Nicosie Clement, a 29-year-old female security guard attached to Sheriff Security.
Investigations so far revealed that on August 18, at about 13:00 hrs, Devonish went to TelePerformance on Barrack Street, Kingston, where he verbally abused a female guard there before taking away her cellphone.
An 18-year-old security guard of Sheriff Security at the location intervened and told Devonish that he was wrong to take his colleague’s cellphone and that he should return it.
Devonish dealt the 18-year-old guard two slaps to his face. The teen then left the location and went to the Doctor’s Quarters located at New Market and Main Street, where he met Nicosie Clement, who was on duty with the teen’s mother, Vanessa Jones.
The 18-year-old complained to his mother about what had taken place, and she told him that Clement would accompany him to his workplace in Kingston later in the day to pick up his lunch bag that he had left behind after being assaulted by Devonish.
At about 18:30 hrs, Clement and the 18-year-old went to collect the lunch bag and were walking east on Barrack Street when Devonish approached them on an electric bike from the opposite direction.
Devonish told the 18-year-old that he was lucky he did not ‘box off’ his head. Clement intervened and asked the victim why he was taking advantage of the teen. A scuffle ensued between the two, during which the suspect pulled out a knife from her pants pocket and stabbed the victim on his left upper thigh.
Devonish then stood up for a short while before falling on the road and began bleeding profusely from the wound. The suspect left the scene and allegedly threw the knife away in the Lamaha Canal. She then went back to her workplace, where she collected her bag and went to the teen’s home.
The victim was picked up by the EMT and taken to the GPHC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was examined, and one wound was seen on his left upper thigh.
The female suspect was arrested at the home of the 18-year-old. A video/audio interview was conducted with the suspect, and she confessed to stabbing the victim. Several persons were questioned and statements taken as investigations continue.
