Dear Editor,

Allow me space in your column to express my deep frustration with the bias and seemingly unlawful actions of the police ranks attached to the Bartica Police Station.

There is an ongoing issue involving a piece of mining land located in Toropura, Region #7, between Mr. Marvis Halliman and the Alfonzos. The land in question is legally owned by Mr. Halliman, who possesses all the necessary documentation to prove ownership.

Mr. Halliman has posted several videos on social media showing security personnel working with the Alfonzos trespassing on his mining land, issuing threats, and even discharging firearms. He also alleged that one of these guards assaulted him with a firearm. A report was made at the Bartica Police Station, but to date, no action has been taken. The Commander for the division, A/C Moore, is fully aware of the situation, yet the Alfonzos’ security personnel have faced no arrests, no charges, and their firearms have not been lodged.

Due to several threats made against his life by the Alfonzos’ security team, Mr. Halliman contracted my Security Company to provide protection. I deployed an armed security officer at Toropura on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. However, the following day, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the police visited the site and informed my security officer that they were “investigating something” and instructed him to report to the Bartica Police Station. I was later contacted by the police and told to report to the same station on Thursday.

At no time did my security officer engage in any hostile confrontation or discharge a firearm. Nonetheless, upon my arrival at the Bartica Police Station, I was asked to provide a statement regarding the purpose of my security’s presence, the contractual agreement between my company and Mr. Halliman, and my company’s documentation—all of which I submitted. Despite full compliance, the police proceeded to lodge my firearm without justification, claiming they must await instructions from the Commander before it can be released.

This is not just an abuse of power by Commander Moore—it is a clear case of bias, illegality, and suspected police corruption. I am therefore calling on the relevant authorities, including the Minister of Home Affairs and the Police Complaints Authority, to urgently investigate this matter and ensure accountability and justice.

Yours truly,
Quincy Anderson
