Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha visited the New Guyana Marketing Corporation’s (GMC) Plantain Chip Factory located at Parika to assess ongoing operations and explore avenues for expanding local agro-processing capacity.
Minister Mustapha was accompanied by Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture, Vikash Ramkissoon, Director General, Dhaneshwar Deonarine, Chief Executive Officer of NAREI, Jagnarine Singh, and other senior officers of the ministry.
During the visit, the team engaged with staff on production processes, quality assurance, and marketing strategies aimed at strengthening value-added production and enhancing farmers’ income. Minister Mustapha reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting agro-processors and ensuring that initiatives like the GMC’s factory continue to drive diversification and innovation within Guyana’s agriculture sector.
