The Guyana government has invited developers to express their interest in the design, finance and build-out of a planned 80-acre healthcare hub at Silica City, inlcuding a sprawling university campus and hospital.

In a public notice, the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) said the zone will feature a state-of-the-art hospital, innovation and research centres, a university campus, and residential housing for roughly 580 households.

The CH&PA said firms submitting expressions of interest must demonstrate the ability to finance and deliver large-scale infrastructure and show strong environmental and sustainability capacity. Submissions must include audited financials, proof of registration and tax compliance, a list of similar completed projects, a proposed financing plan, cost estimates, and a design concept.

The agency said proposals should incorporate renewable-energy systems, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, energy-efficient buildings, and green public spaces, aligning with Silica City’s positioning as a modern, low-carbon urban settlement.

The site is about 40 kilometers (km) from Georgetown and 5 km from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport. Silica City is a budding development that lies along the Linden–Soesdyke Highway, meant to expand population distribution beyond the coast and reduce exposure to climate risk.

Expressions of interest for the hub are due on Dec. 19.
