Police in Regional Division 4 ‘B’ are investigating a robbery under arms that occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at about 19:40hrs along Flamboyant Street, Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara.

The victim, a 22-year-old Venezuelan labourer of Eccles Industrial Site, had reportedly just exited a supermarket in the area and was walking east along Flamboyant Street when he was approached by two men on a motorcycle. The pillion rider dismounted and confronted him, leading to a scuffle.

During the altercation, the pillion rider allegedly discharged a firearm, striking the victim to his left leg. The suspects then robbed him of one cellular phone and $30,000 in Guyana currency before fleeing west along the roadway on the motorcycle.

Emergency Medical Technicians responded and transported the injured man to the Diamond Regional Hospital, where he is receiving treatment. His condition has been listed as stable.

Investigators recovered one 9mm spent shell at the scene. CCTV cameras were observed in the vicinity and are expected to be reviewed as part of ongoing investigations.
