Police in Regional Division 3 are investigating a fatal incident which occurred on Thursday, March 19, 2026, about 08:50hrs at Canal #1, West Bank Demerara, involving a tractor and one-year-old Talesh Bhudram.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, who is the father of the child, alleged that he had left the child sitting on the front step of the house before driving the motor tractor out of the yard and onto an access dam next to the home.
After disembarking the tractor and while walking back into the yard, he reportedly observed the child lying motionless on the ground with injuries about his head and body.
Emergency Medical Technicians attached to the La Grange Fire Service responded to the scene, and the child was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.
The body was escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver, and no trace of alcohol was detected.
The driver is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.
