Member of Parliament Ganesh Mahipaul has issued a rebuttal to claims regarding his political allegiance, describing recent comments made about him as a “calculated effort” by political enemies to tarnish his reputation and sow seeds of doubt among his supporters.
The controversy erupted following an appearance by former APNU member James Bond on The Freddie Kissoon Show last evening. During the broadcast, Bond, who is jumped ship from the PNCR, repeatedly claimed that Mahipaul shares a favourable relationship with the governing People’s Progressive Party/Civic. “Ganesh is with us. The PPP/C loves Ganesh,” Bond stated during the program. “Mahipaul loves the PPP/C… We, the People’s Progressive Party/Civic, love Ganesh Mahipaul.”
Responding via a statement on his official Facebook page, Mahipaul dismissed the assertions as deliberate misinformation. He characterized the remarks as an attempt to “besmirch” his character and mislead the public.
“I remain the same humble servant, Ganesh Mahipaul, who began his national political journey as a member of the PNCR,” the MP declared. “I intend to end it, whenever that time comes, as a proud member of the PNCR.”
Mahipaul further clarified that his departure from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) would only occur if the party itself chose to “run [him] out,” expressing full confidence that such a scenario would never manifest.
The Opposition MP urged his constituents and supporters to ignore the “distractions” and remain “politically engaged.” He framed the allegations as a strategic move by adversaries who find it in their interest to see him fail. “These attempts to mislead and confuse are not accidental. They are deliberate,” Mahipaul wrote. “Now more than ever, we must stand firm, restructure where necessary, and continue to reassure our people with clarity, consistency, and truth.”
Mahipaul ended his statement with a call to “stay the course”.
