A taxi driver this morning used his car to run over his 21-year-old estranged wife before stabbing her to death at Williamsburgh, Corentyne.
The victim has been identified as Omwattie Gill. She was stabbed multiple times about the body by the suspect, Gavin Gill, who is in police custody.
The mother of an eight-month-old baby was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Mourant Hospital.
According to information received, after years of abuse, the victim moved out from the suspect’s home and took out a restraining order. This morning, the victim was walking on the public road when the suspect saw her and ran over her with his car.
As the victim was lying on the road, the suspect got out of his vehicle and started stabbing the woman about her body.
He then ran away, leaving her lifeless body on the road. She was taken to the hospital by residents where she succumbed.
The suspect was later nabbed by the police.
