Marvin Williams, referred to by local police as Troy Thomas, has lost another fight against his extradition to the United States of America where he is wanted for the murder of his fellow Guyanese, 20-year-old Keith Frank, who was shot dead on December 11, 2011.

This morning, High Court Judge Navindra Singh dismissed an application by Thomas (Williams), a prisoner, in which the wanted man challenged the authority of the prison to hold him.  The murder suspect had argued that his confinement is illegal.

In court documents seen by the Guyana Standard, Williams’ lawyer, Nigel Hughes, argued that, among others things, his client is being unlawfully detained and subjected to legal process unsupported by any legal basis or foundation.

Following a hearing last year November, Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus ordered that Williams be extradited to the US to face charges for murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

However, Williams remains in custody of the State until the Minister of Public Security signs off on the order issued by the Magistrate.
