An argument between two cousins over a piece of ply board has left one with a broken jaw and the other before the courts.

Josh Charles, 32, is accused of breaking the left jaw of Juliann Favourite. The woman whose jaw appeared to be swollen tried to speak to the magistrate during today’s proceedings but was unable to do so.

Charles denied the charge which stated that, on April 4, 2019 at 910 Rosemary Lane, South Cummingsburg, he inflicted grievous bodily harm on Favourite.

Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh told the court that the victim and Charles are living together in a family house. Facts presented by the prosecutor stated that, on the day in question, the two had an argument over a missing ply board and Charles dealt the woman a cuff to her left jaw.

The woman who fell to the ground in an unconscious state was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where she was admitted a patient. She received a fractured jaw.

The matter was then reported, an investigation was carried out, and Charles was arrested for the offence.

With no objections raised by the prosecutor, the Magistrate released Charles on $80,000 bail. He was instructed to make his next court appearance on May 10, 2019.
