A conductor who allegedly slapped a 15-year-old girl to the face before raping her fainted in court today upon hearing that he was remanded to prison.
Twenty-three-year-old Dorian Fredericks of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Fredericks was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that between October 1, 2016 and October 31, 2016 at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown he engaged in sexual penetration with a child under the age of 16.
The matter was heard in-camera.
According to information, the accused, sometime during the mentioned period, slapped the teen in the face, pushed her onto a bed, and had sex with her.
The matter was then reported and Fredericks was arrested and charged with the offence.
The prosecutor objected to bail being granted to the defendant on the grounds that it is not the first time that he raped the teenager. Hence, Fredericks was remanded to prison.
The young man, upon hearing that he was remanded, fainted in court and had to be assisted by officers.
Fredericks was instructed to make his next court appearance on May 29,2019.
