A new way to pay contributions to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) is scheduled for a Saturday, June 15 launch at the Giftland Mall.

This is according to information released by the NIS which revealed the alternative payment option that is specifically targeting self-employed individuals. To make the payment option a reality, NIS partnered with the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph company which will see persons utilising the Mobile Money Guyana (MMG) platform.

The MMG platform, which is an application that can be downloaded from the play or app stores on mobile devices, was introduced some years ago. The app allows customers to pay bills, make hire purchase payments, and even buy and sell top-up.

Although the service was initially only offered to GTT mobile customers in 2015, it was also introduced to Digicel customers as well.

It is expected that the addition of NIS payment will cater to more efficient payments of contributions by the targeted individuals.

The launch of the NIS/GTT collaboration will take place in front of the Ashley Furniture Store at 13:00 hours.
