A group of inmates at the Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD) prison, is in hot water after they videoed themselves assaulting and cutting off a murder suspect’s hair on August 8, last.

The video went viral this morning and according to Prison Director, Gladwin Samuels, the victim has since been identified as 36-year-old Marlon Bradley called “Maley”.

Bradley of East La Penitence, Georgetown was shot to the left leg by the police on August 4, last when he allegedly tried to shoot a rank while in the vicinity of the route 32 minibus park. He was subsequently charged for carrying an illegal gun.

In an interview with this news agency, Samuels said that the victim was unable to identify his attackers since he claimed that he was sleeping when he was assaulted and the men had partially covered their faces.

However, other inmates were able to point out some of the suspects to prison officials and the matter is being investigated.

Bradley is said to be the prime suspect in the murder of Guyhoc Park, Georgetown mechanic, Reginald Atherly, who was gunned down on July 27, when two men broke into his home during what is believed to be a botched robbery. The second suspect has not been arrested as yet.

Bradley has not been charged as yet with the mechanic’s murder.
