Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs Basil Williams and team yesterday, on behalf of President David Granger, distributed “David G” branded backpacks to primary school students residing in the villages of Belfield, Victoria, Golden Grove, Nabaclis, Haslington, and Enmore along the East Coast of Demerara.

The distribution exercise was conducted at the Golden Grove Community Centre and saw scores of pupils receiving backpacks.

AG Williams was assisted by the Regional Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council Region Four, Genevieve Allen, and People’s National Congress Reform stalwart, Ernest Elliott.

Williams told the pupils present that the backpacks are gifts from President Granger, even as he reiterated that education is the topmost priority of this administration. The distribution of backpacks complements the President’s Five B’s initiative, aimed at providing boats, buses, bicycles, books and breakfast to schoolchildren.

President Granger’s Five B’s initiative has alleviated some of the hardships previously faced by parents and students and saved them much-needed money.

Williams and team are expected to conduct several similar exercises in other villages in his constituency along the East Coast of Demerara throughout this week.
