Twenty-three-year-old, Inbal Sheobalis of Supernaam Essequibo was today remanded to prison on a breaking and entering and larceny charge.

The man, who claims to be a miner, appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that on September 3, at Itabali Landing, Cuyuni Mazaruni, he broke and entered the shop of Marcella Jeffery and stole a number of alcoholic beverages and cash totally $51,200, which belonged to the woman.

Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris stated that on the day in question, the woman secured her shop and went to bed.

The court heard that hours after, she was awakened by a noise and upon checking, she observed her shop ransacked and articles missing.

The matter was then reported and police, upon viewing CCTV footage, saw the defendant breaking into the woman’s shop.

Further investigation was carried out and the defendant was arrested and charged with the offence.

Prosecutor Harris objected to bail being granted to the defendant on the grounds that he has no fixed place of abode.

Magistrate Marcus, after listening to the facts, remanded the man until September 18.
