Divisional Commander, Wendell Blanhum has confirmed that the bodies of two brothers, riddled with bullets, were discovered today in the North West District.

The discovery was made just off the Waini Coast in the vicinity of Shell beach.

The deceased have been identified as Eon and Rakesh Mathias. The siblings are fisherman and would usually operate in the Waini River.

According to information received, residents in the area called the police to report that they heard rapid gunfire around 14:00 hrs yesterday.

Police ranks suspected that it might have been a piracy attack and went out into the river, with the assistance of the coast guards, to probe but did not find anything.

This morning however, the brothers bodies floated ashore. There was no sign of their fishing boat.
