A fisherman whom the court heard fired several shots at a City Constabulary rank, was today sentenced to 12 months in prison.

Twenty-five-year-old Kevin Allicock of 32 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, had pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on August 15, 2019 at Orange Walk, Bourda, Georgetown, he discharged a firearm at City Constabulary rank Brent Walcott, with the intent to maim, disfigure, or cause grievous bodily harm.

He was on trial before Magistrate Annette Singh in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

At the conclusion of the trial this morning, the Magistrate stated that there was sufficient evidence against Allicock, hence she sentenced him to 12 months behind bars.

According to information, on the day in question at around 05:30 hrs, Allicock was observed by a City Constable attempting to scale the western fence of the Bourda Market.

The rank then raised an alarm and Allicock jumped from the fence, pulled out a gun from the waistband of his pants, and fired three rounds in Walcott’s direction.

The court heard that the rank, who was armed at the time, returned fire but the defendant managed to escape.

Shortly after, information on Allicock’s whereabout was received and a party of City Constabulary ranks went to Hadfield Street where they arrested him hiding under a bridge.

He was subsequently arrested and charged.
