The highly anticipated final of the Petra Organization’s Turbo Knock-out Cup was anti-climatic as it turned out to be a one-sided affair with the Fruta Conquerors Football Club running out 3-1 winners over the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) on Sunday night at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifest Avenue.

Last year’s winners, the Northern Rangers were also in action defeating Pouderoyen 1-0 in the third place play-off with Damian Williams netting the lone goal in the 34th minute.

In the final, Fruta FC got off to a dominant start and were rewarded for their high pressing and dominant possession with Nicholas McArthur finding the back of the net in the 16th minute.

Fruta Conquerors’ Nicholas McArthur helped his side to a 3-1 win over GFC in the Turbo Cup Final.

Just 10 minutes later, GFC’s Joshua Braithwaite was handed a red card for a second misdemeanour which meant that his side would have to play with just 10 men for the remainder of the game.

However, GFC astutely defended and went into the halftime break without conceding any further goals but upon resumption, Jermaine Garrett made it 2-0 Fruta in the 48th minute.

GFC continued their staunch defending but would concede again as Fruta FC out the game to bed in the 84th minute through the boot of Ravon Bailey. A late consolation goal was scored for GFC from the penalty spot as Kelsey Benjamin converted a penalty kick in additional time (90+4 minutes).

With the win, Fruta Conquerors walked away with a trophy and $400,000 while GFC had to settle for the second place purse of $200,000.

Third place winners Northern Rangers pocketed $100,000 while Pouderoyen grabbed $50,000.
